PRINT ACTIVITY

Word Chains

Your child will have one minute to make as many real words as possible from a set of letters.

Learning Area(s): Reading and Writing

MATERIALS

  • timer
  • tablet or computer
  • pen and paper – optional

LET'S PLAY

Explain to your child that they will create as many real words as they can in one minute by dragging the letters into the boxes to make words, and then reading the words aloud.

You will use a clock or timer to keep track of the time. Use your fingers or tally marks to count the words your child makes. Encourage your child and praise their efforts.

Launch each interactive activity using the buttons. Letter sets are in the order from least difficult to most difficult.

TIPS

  • If this activity is too difficult for your child, extend the time to two minutes.
  • To challenge your child, shorten the time to create the words or select a more challenging letter set. Additionally, you can ask them to use the words they made in a sentence.
